Chris Payne
Mr. Payne joined Ponder & Co. in 1981. He brought five years of experience as a commercial banker specializing in healthcare finance at American National Bank and Trust Company of Chicago, where he coordinated the bank's business development effort in the healthcare industry. In addition to serving as financial advisor for more than 300 financings totaling over $15 billion, Mr. Payne was instrumental in developing several financing vehicles that have become industry standards. He also has extensive experience in developing and structuring master trust indentures for system financings. Mr. Payne has spoken at seminars sponsored by the Healthcare Financial Management Association, Aspen Seminars, the Strategic Research Institute and the American Bar Association. His articles have been published in Trustee and Healthcare Financial Management magazines, and he wrote the chapter "Hospital Debt Management" for the book Hospital Capital Formation: Strategies and Tactics for the 1990s, from American Hospital Publishing, Inc. Mr. Payne was the primary author of the book Strategic Capital Planning for Healthcare Organizations, published by Probus Publishing (now McGraw-Hill). Mr. Payne graduated from Michigan State University with a bachelor's degree in general business. He received his master's degree in business administration, with emphasis on finance and marketing, from the University of Michigan.
